Resident Commissioner Pablo José Hernández Joins the New Democrat Coalition, a Caucus of Moderate Democrats

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Resident Commissioner Pablo José Hernández announced today that he has joined the New Democrat Coalition. With 115 members, the New Democrat Coalition brings together a diverse group of centrist and moderate Democrats committed to working in a bipartisan manner on economic growth, infrastructure renewal, and responsible governance, among other issues.
“I’m a centrist, and I believe in working pragmatically to achieve results,” said Hernández. “On issues like economic development, federal funding, energy, health, and housing, among many others, I look forward to working with my colleagues in the New Democrat Coalition to help Puerto Rico.”
Chair of the New Democrat Coalition, Brad Schneider (D-Ill.), welcomed Hernández: “We are excited to welcome Congressman Hernández into the New Dem ranks. A pragmatic legislator, dedicated to finding common ground to strengthen Puerto Rico’s economy, energy resources, and infrastructure, Congressman Hernández embodies the essential qualities that give the New Dems our strength,” said New Dem Chair Brad Schneider. “We look forward to incorporating his unique experiences and expertise into our ongoing efforts to both counter the harmful agenda of Congressional Republicans and develop the New Dem policy agenda to deliver real solutions for the American people, including the millions of residents living in our territories, who are often underrepresented.”
