Closer to the People, Resident Commissioner Inaugurates New District Office in Caguas

March 11, 2025

The new office will be located in the town of Caguas at the Centro de Bellas Artes facilities in the downtown area

CAGUAS, P.R. – Puerto Rico’s Resident Commissioner, Pablo José Hernández Rivera, has announced the opening of his new district office, located at the Centro de Bellas Artes in Caguas, alongside the administrative offices. This office will provide services to citizens regarding federal government matters.

Hernández Rivera highlighted the importance of this office and its strategic location:

“They kicked us out of the Capitol but we got closer to the people. I’ve always believed in decentralization, and when the Caguas Mayor, William Miranda Torres, offered us this space, we accepted it,” said Hernández.

The new office will feature easy access for individuals with disabilities, nearby parking, and a variety of businesses in the area, allowing visitors to manage their federal affairs more conveniently. The services offered will include:

Assistance with federal agencies, including but not limited to:

  • U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (services and benefits, etc.)
  • U.S. Department of State (passports, visas, etc.)
  • U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
  • U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
  • U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)
  • U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA)
  • Nominations to U.S. Military Academies
  • Tours of Washington, D.C., including the White House and Capitol
  • U.S. flags
  • Grant application requests
  • Congressional Art Competition
  • Congressional App Challenge

Additionally, the Resident Commissioner announced that he is evaluating the possibility of establishing facilities in the northern region for in-person meetings and virtual engagements, ensuring greater flexibility in serving the public.

The official inauguration will take place on March 21, 2025, at the Carmita Jiménez Event Hall in the Centro de Bellas Artes of Caguas. The event is expected to be attended by elected officials, members of Congress, agency heads, veterans, and community leaders.
