Comisionado Residente Renuncia a Sueldo Durante el Cierre del Gobierno
Esto es en solidaridad con los cientos de miles de empleados federales que continúan trabajando sin recibir su cheque.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – En medio del cierre actual del gobierno federal, el Comisionado Residente Pablo José Hernández (PR-AL) solicitó que se le retenga su salario hasta que el Congreso llegue a un acuerdo y el gobierno federal reabra por completo.
En una carta a Catherine Szpindor, Oficial Administrativa Principal (CAO) de la Cámara de Representantes de EE.UU., el Comisionado Residente escribió: “Con el cierre del gobierno federal, los Miembros del Congreso deben regirse por las mismas reglas que las personas a quienes representan. Hasta que el Congreso haga su trabajo y reabra el gobierno, los Miembros del Congreso no deben recibir salario. Le pido que retenga mi sueldo hasta que se firme una ley que reabra el gobierno.”

Resident Commissioner Turns Down Pay During Government Shutdown
This is in solidarity with the hundreds of thousands of federal employees who continue working without receiving their paycheck.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Amidst the ongoing federal government shutdown, Resident Commissioner Pablo José Hernández (PR-AL) has requested that his pay be withheld until Congress reaches an agreement and the federal government is fully reopened.
In a letter to Catherine Spzindor, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Resident commissioner wrote, “With the federal government shutdown, Members of Congress should play by the same rules as the people they represent. Until Congress does its job and reopens the government, Members of Congress should not receive pay. Please withhold my pay until an agreement to reopen the government is signed into law.”
